Rubber Plant / Ficus Elastica

The Rubber Plants is a low maintenance evergreen trees originating from India. It is a hardy, fast growing plant with large luscious glossy leaves. The Rubber plants sets itself apart from other indoor plants with its deep burgundy leave that unfurl from striking reddish pink stalks.

The Rubber Plant get its name from the sap that oozes out of the leaves and woody stems if they are scratched or cut. This milky latex is toxic if ingested and can be an irritant to the eyes and skin so handle with care.

This plant is an air purifier! The Rubber Plant eliminates; carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene and more. Locate your Rubber Plant within 2m of your sitting or working zone for the most benefits. 

Care: Perfect for a brightly lit position in filtered light. The water needs of the Rubber Plant vary according to season, water moderately in summer to keep the soil moist, during winter your plant may only need watering once or twice a month. Always allow water to drain from your pot before placing it back on its drip tray, your plant will hate soggy roots.

Keep leaves dust free by misting or wipe them down with a damp cloth, this keeps them looking lovely and able to photosynthesise.

As plants tend to lean toward natural sunlight, turn your plant regularly to encourage even growth to all sides.
